"Observing Closely a Colorful World"
6:36am

I was finishing the re-organization of the second intuitive gallery, adding the most recent pieces to it and this picture which I'd done last April cried out for color:

"New Lower Prices!!!"
12:52am

Did that announcement get your attention? I've reduced the prices on the prints, to be in line with what other visual artists are charging. The original prices were determined by the web shop site's recommendation, but ten percent less:

This site is primarily used by professional photographers who photograph weddings and the like. However, a search of comparable ARTISTS out there show they don't charge quite as much.

If you look around, you'll see these are reasonable prices, and madly crave my art hanging on the walls of your home. Also, don't forget these are easily frameable, so you don't have to go and pay 100 bucks on a fancy frame to fit an odd size picture. Just any old cheapie frame from Micheals' or 'Wallys' or where ever will do.

That is end of the 'advertisement'. Now for some more good news. I have a new enhanced version of Dark Lord of Thunder! I was puzzled when the print I received was oddly dark in HUE, so I took a closer look at the file in Photoshop. Back when I created it, I didn't have that better program. I learned the red I'd used was one that gave a 'gamut' warning, meaning it would not print, and it showed a tiny square of what would print. That was a shade much darker. Which of course was what I got. So I tweaked and tweaked, and tested using the 'desaturate' to make sure Set would not be disappearing into the background:

Set is NOT a God who disappears into the background!

And now he doesn't in this picture, either!

"Choosing the Low Chair"
3:42pm

When we came out of the theater yesterday after watching The Last King of Scotland, we were rather reeling with shock, and to gain equilibrium again, we walked around in Old Town. We found a little shop called The Organic Patch and decided to investigate. Yes, another restaurant friendly to vegetarians, this one features raw vegan food. The smoothies we had were delicious, thick and creamy and oh so tasty. Julia choose a coconut variety while I chose a berry variety. While there, I noticed two amazingly high chairs and decided to sketch one.

The table isn't in proportion to the chair, the chair was taller than it...

As wobbly as I felt, there's no way I would have chosen that seat. A low chair felt more secure. There's nothing so horrifying as a movie whose gruesome events really did happen. However, Forrest Whitaker is really deserving of an Oscar because he conveyed what it must be like to be utterly mad with great skill.

"RED"
6:17pm

The Friday Illo theme this week is RED:

Red, the pulsing color,
color of blood,
color of passion,
color of the wild God,
red.

Red, the color of strength and fortune,
of danger and warning.
Red gets our attention!

Also, here is my statue of the 'Red God' highlighted by sunlight:

Yes, and the LADY is wearing RED, too!

I'd taken a similar one two years ago with my old camera.

Oh, and I must not forget another RED picture I took last Wednesday:

Fake red flower, but still blessed in the sunlight...

"A Phantom of the Opera"
7:54pm

This whimsy came to me as I listened to Sarah Brightman's lovely duet with the Phantom:

"Sing once again a strange duet," would you? He's been practicing so hard!

I think I might color him. He looks like he ought to be green!

10:02pm

You're thinking that duet would be REALLY strange???

"Lemon Juice Optional"
8:39pm

While at the fabric store buying a zipper for a customer, I noticed booklets for the upcoming county fair in April. I was thinking maybe I'd like to contribute something for it, so I took a booklet. There are some strict requirements for the 'Fine Arts' category:

"YUMA COUNTY BOARD WILL NOT ACCEPT THE ENTRY OF WORKS COPIED OR DUPLICATED FROM ANY BOOKS, MAGAZINE ILLUSTRATIONS, POSTCARDS, CALENDARS, PAINTINGS OR DRAWINGS DONE BY ANOTHER ARTIST, OR FROM PHOTOGRAPHS TAKEN BY SOMEONE OTHER THAN THE ENTERING ARTIST, OR MADE FROM A KIT." Caps theirs!

I guess that means my linear sketch tonight wouldn't qualify:

"I could tell you all about it", he thinks...

The model was one of those small Adobe stock photos:

However, this white haired man is much more handsome and not nearly so grumpy as mine!

Mine could almost qualify as a caricature of the 'grumpy old man', I suppose. In spite of the sour expression, there's something about him I like, though. He has a feistiness that appeals. I remember my grandmother would get that expression some times when ever something didn't please her. I wonder if I will look like that on occasion when I get old? Lemon juice I suppose is optional.
