Best Photos of 2006

When I scanned through the past year, I found quite a few favorites: I like his one of January 14th because of the perspective. My eye is drawn into the picture via the path:

One of the sun dappled paths on Robert J. Moody demonstration garden...

Going sequentially, the next was taken on a visit to Picaflor March 1st:

One of the back doors to Picaflor...

At the beginning of April, Julia and I went to Phoenix and enjoyed the minature displays at the Phoenix Art Museum. Several photos captured both the inner display and the outer exterior reflected on the display window:

This looks rather dreamlike, two worlds meeting in an appealing way.

In June, we took advantage of the cool morning air for a walk in Smucker Park. I like the sense of motion this photo conveys:

There's our long shadows , as a walker speeds by us...

In August Julia and I went to Orlando, Florida. I enjoyed having my new camera, and its ability to capture more details. One photo intrigues, again for its reflective qualities. The tiger, which was what my camera was aimed at has 'behind' it the camera reflection:

Yes, that's also a bit of Julia and I, as well as another observer...

Here's another photo from the end of that trip:

With the dawn, runners begin their day...
(reminder, slightly larger underneath...)
...and 'fully full size panorama is clickable, also

I like the vast panorama in the picture above. For that reason, I also choose this photo from when I went to Seattle in September. It was very peaceful on top of the hotel roof, and I enjoyed the vastness of the lake view:

Next, I pick one from right at home, the Shiva statue that 'dances' on a table right beside my computer. I like the interplay of light and shadow.

Lastly, just at year's end, I have another favorite. I like it for it's at once both Egyptian (just substitute lotus sniffing for the drink glass) and modern in feel. The serendipity is the way the light behind the glazed mirror accents the lady's eyes and lips:
