"Photographing the Antiques"
4:52pm

I wasn't the only one armed with a camera, as we roamed the antique show going on this weekend at the convention center:

What was he photographing so intently? Let's have a closer look:

The other photographer might have been able to eliminate the light reflections...

Those are painted boxes from Russia. The next items, we are told so clearly, are ANCIENT

The center coin features Ptolemy from 290B.C.
Want a closer look? I have full size

'Egyptian Revival', I found plenty of that, and aimed my camera eye at it:

This one was created in San Francisco from one made in the 'revival period'...

It amuses me that the wings look more like those a stewardess might wear, and the face looks more Byzantine. Not to be outdone, the next is of a rather Oriental looking long faced Akenaten type dude:

I expect him to start speaking Chinese...

And Nefertiti, 'the beautiful woman has come', and gone ALL OVER!

That's not her first appearance in Yuma. I documented a less colorful version in Old Town earlier. I don't know, but the colorful painting may stay in Yuma, also. I do know, however, the odd brass statue to the right of 'the lady' has ended its travels and found a home in Yuma. Yes, I remembered the incense burner with three rams heads from last year's show. This year, it and several other items, came home with us.

Here's some that didn't:

Last year, those vases had a colorful guard dog...

You can see the feather underneath Nefertiti is tickling one of those vases.

Our trip would not be complete with out a mirror shot or two, and yes, a couple did come out reasonably well:

I titled this piece "Photographing the Antiques". Are Julia and I 'antique'? I thought the dividing line was fifty years. Fortunately M-w.com clarifies; "a work of art, piece of furniture, or decorative object made at an earlier period and according to various customs laws at least 100 years ago". We've got 'a few years' before then, grin!

One last look...

"Now Selling Art Prints"
10:34pm

Easily Frameable Prints
On quality 'Photo Lustre' paper!

I've got the first galleries up, and will be gradually adding to it. I've tried the Printroom.com and am pleased with the quality of the prints. I used to use an expensive place that charged me 72 dollars for a 22x44 inch piece of Photo Lustre that I'd try to fit the pieces in like a jigsaw puzzle. That place is good if the artist insists on custom framing. But I've been designing to fit readily available frames anyway! (I make it easy for me to frame my own things, and hence now easy for you!) So it makes good sense for me to use the business that is usually more geared to standard photo sizes.

This 'Photo Lustre' is is not thin poster paper, but very good quality durable paper that takes colors well. I've chosen sizes that will crop well, as I design to 8x10 size to begin with, so a little shaving off the top or bottom will not affect the design composition appreciably.
