"Playful Visit in Wetlands Park"

I studied the events in town, seeking good walking, fresh air and photo opportunities. The 'Midnight at the Oasis' car show might have some photogenic items. So we headed towards the Ray Kroc complex this morning, but was puzzled by ver-r-r-ry slow traffic. This caused Julia alarm, "We might be over a half hour in waiting to get in!". Maybe for the treasures of Tutankhamun we might wait that long, but not for cars, however 'old' they might be. She suggested we go to West Wetland park instead. A new sight greeted us when we went to the West Wetland Park this morning: |

"Stewart Vincent Wolfe Memorial Playground"

An entrance to the castle...

There's lots of slides...

More slides...

A close up detail...

Swings (Yes, I went swinging on them!)...

Even the trash cans are festive...

Dream!

This playground came about totally by community involvement.
"In 10 short but full days, the project took shape under the labor of thousands of people, from children who painted bricks to contractors who donated use of their employees. Firefighters on duty worked in between calls, and prison inmates did a lot of the heavy work. The unskilled fetched water and snacks and materials while the skilled workers ran saws and drills and hammers." It's just awesome. It's one of the reasons I enjoy living in Yuma, the way everyone comes together to bring such fun things into being.
