"Remembering Past Visits"
6:15am

While remembering a visit to Chicago's scientific museum yesterday, I found a picture commemorating that visit:

I'm the short but SLENDER young lady to the left...
Close up of 25 year old me that day, photo is mislabeled '1985'
Caption on back of photo, written at the time...
June 1983 - Uncle Bill, Erica and I exiting the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago. We went to the Chinese Exhibition - saw silk fabric being woven, Chinese health cures, a basin that when the handles were rubbed while drying your hands a hum sound was made, and all sorts of other Chinese things.
I remember the Chinese health cures. A display was set up just like a Chinese doctor's would have been. There were large wooden chests with hundreds of tiny drawers filled with various herbal and other types of remedies for specific maladies.

Flash forwarding from 1983 to 2007, I return to remembering our recent visit to the Phoenix area. Last year I'd hoped to stop by and see Laura's mother Eleanor, but left it until the last day. But by the last day, I didn't feel well as I was suffering extremely from a sinus headache, so we didn't go. This year, we wisely visited Eleanor first, before entering the large city of Phoenix.

She lives in a pleasant apartment complex, each of them scattered like small homes through out a nicely landscaped area. She has her swing on the porch, and she decorated the inside very nicely, despite not being able to see very well. We took pictures of each other with Eleanor just before we left:

None of us look like we did in 1983!

It's been some time since I did a 'weird' drawing:

'Lady Cat' with a too short slip?

"Some Critters at the Fair"
6:06am

Blue tongued skink

Bearded dragon

There was also a plated lizard, several turtles and a few others I didn't photograph. They were all near the scientifically oriented displays in the big building that also houses the arts and crafts and photography displays:

Now where have we seen that arctic fox before?
Yes, we HAVE seen that arctic fox before!

"Intoxication at a Wine Tasting"
8:35pm

(I wrote this on the back of the wine info sheet, while feeling 'under the influence'...)
Looking at the gray and black marble floor tiles as they recede visually smaller, "Hail to the Vanishing Point!" As I look at the prints on the wall of art by Van Gogh, Matisse and Chagall, "Hail, Brothers of Art, may you inspire me! (Hail Dionysos! Hail Set! Hail Thoth!) May I create works worthy to hang besides yours!"

Oh, this intoxication of the Vine! Julia says my face is flushed! A chocolate/hazelnut tartuffo and strawberry/lime Jone's soda will sort me out.

I note the soda cap bears a message:
"Saturday and Sunday stack odds in your favor"

I'm all ready for odds in my favor. Evens, too.

"Blessing"
11:28pm

The Photo Friday theme this week is "Blessing". Religious themes abound, images of saints and buddhas and churches aplenty. I chose to Savor the Moment:

Yes, there were a lot of blooms at the county fair:

May you have much to savor in this moment.
