"Who Goes, Who Stays"
11:42pm

Things learned today:
To have healthy stools, we're supposed to eat 25 grams of fiber, along with enough water to turn your pee clear enough to read through.
It is better to pluck a tick out, because although its head may remain, the dangerous parts lie in the body.
A certain fundy preacher considered infamous in some circles kicked the bucket today.
The flags at city buildings were at half mast. (I think it was to honor officers killed in the line of duty over the past year)

All messy business, one way or the other...

"Got His Own..."
7:22pm

This pride doesn't come easy...
only he who knows the tale can tell it.
Where were you when the lights came falling?
The only one who can save your soul is you....

"Large"
3:36am

I chose this for the Photo Friday theme of 'LARGE'. It is a sculpture of a proud Native American warrior at the grounds of the Heard Museum in Phoenix. It's a large sculpture, but as such things are relative, he stands against the background of an even larger modern building. There's lots of subtle messages in this, a proud way of life being dwarfed by encroaching 'modern' civilization is one. But I like better the idea of his 'largeness' being sufficient to him. To survive in this modern world (or any world), one's pride has to be sufficient to oneself.

Of course, getting to that point is a matter of personal evolution and NOT EASY!

"Isis at the Temples"
9:46am

I woke this morning from a rather unusual dream. Julia and I were at a restaurant in which there was a gathering of people interested in Egyptian and Grecian matters, in particular religious matters. There was to be procession. I stood in line with others and received a fancy head piece with brass cut out figures that looked like the head and head dress of an Egyptian goddess. In the dream, I couldn't tell which one, but saw a familiar stair step head piece. (Looking it up, I see it is the headdress of Isis.). I broke out of the procession line because I had to pee. (Well, I often have to pee in my dreams. [In reality, too!]) Had frustration, but didn't want to miss the procession.

But, alas, I did, for I made a clumsy entrance, and they had to rearrange the rectangular wooden tables for me to sit at the dinner tables.

(Just like me to make a 'chaotic' entrance, heh heh...)

Anyway, this head band is still vivid in my mind. There were greenish turquoise beads at the sides, and the Goddess figure heads towards the temple areas where the head piece would sit. That's 'temple' as 'temple' of head. Is this nomenclature not a 'co-incidence'?

I looked up 'temple', and discover the forehead meaning comes from latin, 'tempora'. So I looked 'tempora' up and got a variety of results:

Tempora:
tempus, temporis : time, condition, right time; season, occasion; necessity;
temperantia : moderation, self-control, temprance.
tempero : be moderate, control oneself.
tempero : to mix properly, temper, regulate, mitigate.
tempero : (+ dat.) to control, use with moderation, spare,
tempero : (+abl. or with ab) to keep from, refrain from.
templum : sacred precinct, temple, sometimes church.

That's quite interesting. Meanwhile, I made a drawing of the dream head band:

(I dunno why I drew the lady with SIX fingers...)
Perhaps it suggests the heiroglyph for KA?

A slightly enhanced version of this piece is at Pathmarkings
