"Drawing Day"
3:02pm

I took note of the announcement for Drawing Day that someone had made to their Livejournal about a month ago. I made a note of it on the calendar, so I wouldn't forget. After answering the call of Photo Friday, and sharing more ancient Egyptian photos, I didn't forget.

A look at Amazon.com brought me recommendations for LAGQ's Spin. I listened to the various songs, taking note of one song title: "Night Furniture: Chair With Hands For Feet". That piqued my imagination, so while I downloaded the title track, I drew the following:

Then a purely spontaneous drawing:

Certainly, she is inspired by my Egyptian studies, and look! She has no shoes on her feet! Yes, I'd been planning on a shoe shopping trip when I got back from NYC. Julia was in terrible need of shoes, and my Birkies, although fine for everyday, aren't 'designed for walking', as I found out in the museums. I needed a pair that was.

Julia liked the first pair she tried on. I tried about four pairs. One was too narrow, and two had a bump in the sole that just wasn't in the right spot. This puzzled the sales lady, for Birkies have raised arches. But they're raised in just the right area. However, one pair was comfy and passed my tiny walking test, walking back and forth several times in the shop. Curiously enough, 'designed for walking' is part of the Wolky's logo:

Actually, if you rotate that drawing 90 degrees clockwise, that is the way I drew it, my right leg crossed over the other leg. Hopefully, I will draw some more today.

5:13pm

As I looked through my trip photos, I sought for something that said 'draw me!' And this scribe 'was looking' at me so intently, it seemed as if he was drawing me:

Nikare, Dynasty 5, reign of Niuserre (ca. 2420-2389 BC) or later
Red granite with painted details, probably from Saqqara
Rogers Fund, 1948, MMA 48.67

So I drew him as if he were drawing me...

We seemed to be mirroring each other, despite the millenia between us. My pose and hairstyle is quite similar, although I am wearing a blouse in addition to a skirt!

7:57pm

I followed the lure of another Amazon recommendation. As I listened to each song's snippet, I decided _The Art of Guitar_ by David Russell is an album I had to have:

Designed to fit into jewel case when printed...

As I listened to the results of my burning, I decided I'd finish up the drawing day with a sketch of this musician:
