Note of March 11, 2007 Right after I did this, I thought it was brilliant, utterly brilliant. Maybe with the sobriety of a new day, this picture has odd unforeseen connotations? The metaphor of 'mind as vessel' and 'consciousness as grail' might work, but to drink out of a cup like that might be really weird, like you've sawed off someone's head and are drinking their brains? So is this metaphor just ruined because of other associations? But if I don't think about that, I still like the picture.
